অপরাধীকে দণ্ড থেকে রক্ষা করার জন্য উপহার ইত্যাদি গ্রহণঅনানুষ্ঠানিক অনুবাদ
Whoever accepts or attempts to obtain, or agrees to accept, any gratification for himself or any other person, or any restitution of property to himself or any other person, in consideration of his concealing an offence or of his screening any person from legal punishment for any offence, or of his not proceeding against any person for the purpose of bringing him to legal punishment,
shall, if the offence is punishable with death, be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to seven years, and shall also be liable to fine;
and if the offence is punishable with ⁷²[imprisonment] for life, or with imprisonment which may extend to ten yeas, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to three years, and shall also be liable to fine;
and if the offence is punishable with imprisonment not extending to ten years, shall be punished with imprisonment of the description provided for the offence for a term which may extend to one-fourth part of the longest term of imprisonment provided for the offence, or with fine, or with both.

তিনি, অপরাধটি মৃত্যুদণ্ডে দণ্ডনীয় হলে, যে কোনো বর্ণনার কারাদণ্ডে, যার মেয়াদ সাত বছর পর্যন্ত হতে পারে, দণ্ডিত হবেন, এবং অর্থদণ্ডেও দণ্ডনীয় হবেন;
এবং অপরাধটি যাবজ্জীবন ⁷²[কারাদণ্ডে], অথবা দশ বছর পর্যন্ত মেয়াদের কারাদণ্ডে দণ্ডনীয় হলে, তিনি যে কোনো বর্ণনার কারাদণ্ডে, যার মেয়াদ তিন বছর পর্যন্ত হতে পারে, দণ্ডিত হবেন, এবং অর্থদণ্ডেও দণ্ডনীয় হবেন;
এবং অপরাধটি দশ বছর পর্যন্ত পৌঁছায় না এমন মেয়াদের কারাদণ্ডে দণ্ডনীয় হলে, তিনি ওই অপরাধের জন্য বিধানকৃত বর্ণনার কারাদণ্ডে, যার মেয়াদ ওই অপরাধের জন্য বিধানকৃত কারাদণ্ডের দীর্ঘতম মেয়াদের এক-চতুর্থাংশ পর্যন্ত হতে পারে, অথবা অর্থদণ্ডে, অথবা উভয় দণ্ডে দণ্ডিত হবেন।
