সংক্ষিপ্ত শিরোনাম। প্রবর্তনঅনানুষ্ঠানিক অনুবাদ
(1) This Act may be called the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898; and it shall come into force on the first day of July, 1898.
Extent
(2) It extends to the whole of Bangladesh; but, in the absence of any specific provision to the contrary, nothing herein contained shall affect any special ¹[∗ ∗ ∗] law now in force, or any special jurisdiction or power conferred, or any special form of procedure prescribed, by any other law for the time being in force.
¹ The words "or local" were omitted by section 3 and 2nd Schedule of the Bangladesh Laws (Revision And Declaration) Act, 1973 (Act No. VIII of 1973)

(২) এটি সমগ্র বাংলাদেশে প্রযোজ্য হবে; তবে বিপরীত কোনো সুনির্দিষ্ট বিধান না থাকলে, এতে অন্তর্ভুক্ত কোনো কিছুই বর্তমানে বলবৎ কোনো বিশেষ ¹[∗ ∗ ∗] আইন, অথবা আপাতত বলবৎ অন্য কোনো আইন দ্বারা প্রদত্ত কোনো বিশেষ এখতিয়ার বা ক্ষমতা, অথবা নির্ধারিত কোনো বিশেষ ধরনের কার্যপদ্ধতিকে প্রভাবিত করবে না।
¹ “বা স্থানীয়” শব্দগুলো বাংলাদেশ আইন (সংশোধন ও ঘোষণা) আইন, ১৯৭৩ (১৯৭৩ সনের ৮ নং আইন)-এর ধারা ৩ ও দ্বিতীয় তফসিল দ্বারা বিলুপ্ত।
